The Compression Task is an SSIS control flow task that can be used to compress or decompress a file or directory.

With Compression Task, developers can select between four compression levels:

  • None
  • Best Speed
  • Default, and,
  • Best Compression.

With our 2020 Release Wave 1, we added a "Compression Format" option, which allows you to compress/decompress the file in Zip, Gzip and Deflate formats. Additionally, Compression Task now supports wildcard when performing Decompress Zip file action.

The Compression Task, part of the SSIS Productivity Pack, helps makes data integration easier.
